Stabilising Slopes

Platipus
Anchors
Keir Projects tackled a tricky project in Hamilton in 2021. The site had steep, narrow access, making it challenging to use standard equipment. Our goal was to drive Cirtex Platipus anchors 6 metres deep in this difficult terrain.

Keir Projects supplied and installed over 200 6m deep percussive anchors. The anchors were used for a variety of purposes including stabilising slopes and anchoring retaining walls.
We chose a small 3-tonne digger with a breaker attachment for the job. This compact machine could navigate the tight spaces easily. It also had enough power to drive the anchors deep into the ground. We worked our way up the slope in 4-metre cuts.
The Cirtex Platipus anchors were perfect for this project. They’re designed for tough conditions and perform well in confined areas. After installation, we tested each anchor to ensure it could hold 50 kilonewtons of force. This step is crucial for long-term stability and safety. It’s especially important in challenging terrains like this one.
Our approach was cost-effective and low-impact. We used lightweight materials and minimal machinery. This helped keep costs down and preserved the natural landscape.
The small digger and efficient process meant we could work in areas larger machines couldn’t reach. It’s a great solution for small or tricky sites that need stabilising.
This method proved ideal for projects needing stability in confined spaces. It’s efficient, affordable, and causes minimal disruption to the surroundings.
If you have a project with challenging terrain, we’d love to help.
