The Tongariro Track takes you through a changing mountain landscape from volcanic to tussock and kaikawaka forest and offers impressive views of Ruapehu and lakes over the exposed tarns. The 6km of trail we upgraded is generally considered a moderately challenging route and is popular trampers and walkers alike. This project was right up our alley!

This project involved the supply and installation of various structures, Jakmat, rock edging and aggragate showcasing our expertise in challenging environments.

The project involved the renewal and reconstruction of appox 6km of track. Our team worked with DOC to provide a long-term aggregate solution to withstand the ever-changing environment along with upgrading and installing structures. This upgrade not only improves the safety and accessibility of the track but also enhances the overall experience for visitors.

This project faced challenging weather conditions in an alpine environment and extensive helicopter logistics with over 300 ton of aggregate and rock and 45 sets of stairs flown onto Tongariro.

Our team lead by Alan Ball brought their expertise in planning logistics and timber structures to this part of the project.

If you’re visiting the area, take a walk on the newly improved track and see the craftsmanship for yourself. Our work on the walkway and structures will serve visitors well for many years to come.
